Amanda Fly
Amanda Fly settled in in San Antonio 13 years ago when her husband secured a contract with USAA and now lives close to her parents, who are from this area. While living in Atlanta, she and her husband bought an 80-year-old Craftsman-style house in a historic neighborhood that they restored. The process triggered her desire to restore old homes and led to her forming her own company. After getting her real estate license, Fly flipped her first property in 2004, a four-plex in Alta Vista that an investor bought. She often assists sellers who need a quick sale and also works with traditional home-buyers looking for the perfect house. She advises those thinking about flipping to join networking groups like the Alamo chapter of the Real Estate Investors Association. Fly met helpful people, and now she says yes to those asking the same questions she did when she first started. “I like the idea of creating homes. I focus on residential properties, not commercial properties,” Fly said. “My focus is on flipping a property and bringing out the beauty of that home while helping those who need affordable housing.”
Veronica Pritchett
My parents moved to the United States when I was eight years old to provide my sisters and I a better opportunity. From them I learned a strong work ethic and to value education. I chose education as my career and quickly promoted to Assistant Principal of a large comprehensive high school. While I loved my job, I began resenting the long hours away from my two young children. My husband, Will, and I began investing in rental properties to supplement our retirement and to help pay for our children’s college. We soon fell in love with real estate and decided I should leave my job as a school administrator to manage our business full time. I have been self-employed for 18 months investing in real estate and haven’t looked back. In two years, we have been able to triple our rental portfolio through the power of focus and determination. Our company is called Home Again Properties, we pride ourselves in turning old houses into homes again. We enjoy watching families move into a nice, clean, safe property they can call home. Our primary focus is to achieve passive income through rental properties. The passive income allows us the freedom to spend time with our children who are now 12 and 7 years old, to travel, and be present in their daily lives.
Maxine Jackson
Maxine had been a casual investor for many years in several states (MA, NH, CA, OR), mostly as a result of owning a home then moving away; and, sometimes just because it was a good opportunity. She started to become serious about investing in 1992 when needing a home for a relative coincided with a large, unwanted 1904, smokers haven. The listing realtor provided the address but wouldn't show it. The owner happened to be at home; invited her and her husband, Lindsey, in to see the place. Now she was hooked! That was their first true investment property which they renovated and turned into a legal duplex. Next they purchased a very nasty 4-plex down the street. The duplex was sold years later as a 1031 Exchange to purchase several single family homes in AZ. Sub2 is one of her favorite buying strategies. Maxine has personally done renovations as a licensed general contractor in OR and WA, specializing in turn-of-the-century homes. Therefore, projects such as 239 Inspiration Drive here in San Antonio are just another day in paradise...But that's another story.
Jade Florez
Jade Florez is the Loan Consultant for Longhorn III Investments and oversees all of San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus. Over the years she has originated the highest volume in loans for the company while also being a full-time seasoned investor/mother of 3. Her experience in flipping and renting homes has allowed her to guide new investors towards success by giving them unique advice through years of her own trial and error.
Jule Rodriguez
It all began with a conversation my brother and I had over lunch. We had worked together in the past flipping houses, but I had never done commercial real estate. We started talking about how it would be nice to do some deals together merging his experience in commercial real estate with my passion for residential real estate and property management. I mentioned that I had seen an increase in my Airbnb short term corporate rentals and how more millennial's are headed in that direction with commercial space. We started to realize how, by working together, we could both grow our businesses faster. As our conversation progressed, we talked about how nice it would be if we could bring in other people in our industry to work together and we could ALL help each other grow faster. That conversation grew into an idea that crystallized into a vision of a co-working space where everyone in the real estate arena could come together. This fun and causal environment would be a complete paradigm shift from the traditional offices in our industry. Instead of a competitive “me” atmosphere, the space would foster collaboration, promote mentor-ship, inspire new ideas, and increase productivity. This dynamic environment would encourage people to network, share resources, discover potential clients, and develop meaningful connections. Our vision became Space on the Fly.
